This is my own personal opinion on how I think Michonne will leave. I will start off by saying that I don't think she is going to die and I do believe she is heading to the Rick movies. I doubt it will be in the first one, but definitely by the third one, she should appear and reunite with Rick. I think she will see a CRM helicopter flying around, similar to how Rick saw it in Season 8 Episode 5 and she is just flabbergasted. She brings this up to the council and Gabriel talks to them about Jadis and how she was trying to trade him to the CRM helicopter group and they end up putting the pieces together and coming up with the possibility of Rick being alive. Michonne is angry at Gabriel for not bringing this up sooner, as Rick "died" nearly 7 years ago at this point and she decides that she has to go find him. Throughout her last episode, the group is trying to convince her that there is no telling for sure that Rick is alive, but Michonne is desperate for answers, saying stuff about how her and Daryl looked for his body for 7 years and they are not going to stop until they find something. Daryl offers to go instead because Michonne has two kids to take care of, but they end up allowing her to go. Michonne puts Judith and RJ in Daryl and Carol's care and they promise they will keep them safe. (I mean Carol's track record with kids isn't that great, but whatever.) I think the goodbye between Michonne, Judith and RJ is going to be emotional as hell, but she assures her kids that they will be okay under Uncle Daryl and Aunt Carol. Typing this, it feels like it's going to be similar to Toy Story 4's ending. Those who watched that movie know what I'm talking about.
This way, Michonne is able to leave, survive and have it make sense. With RJ and Judith in the picture, I figured there would be only 2 outcomes as how it would make sense for her to leave her children; she dies or she leaves to go find Rick. At first, she might think it's ridiculous in thinking that Rick would have survived in a helicopter, but then she just can't help but think. The love of her life. Years after his "death", she never got over losing him. Even if she thinks it's just some wild theory with some credibility to it, I'm sure she would at least want to try. This way, Judith and RJ can stay in the original series because the two of them are incredibly important to the future of the show and could remain under Daryl and Carol's protection.
Unlike Rick's exit, I don't see them bringing back old characters from the dead in hallucination or flashback sequences. With Rick, he was bleeding out and so that way it made sense for him to hallucinate Shane, Hershel and Sasha. However, unless Michonne is imapled on rebar or by her own sword, I don't see any dead characters returning. That being said, if any deceased character were to return, I'd love to see Chandler Riggs return as Carl. Yes, it's a stretch I know. He's older and it wouldn't look right, but then again, Sasha had a different hairstyle in the Rick hallucination. I don't know how they could do it, but maybe something like Michonne is in bed that night and can't sleep because she can't stop thinking about Rick. She sits out on the porch and Carl is sitting beside her, telling her that his dad would be counting on her, motivating her to go and at least try to see if he's alive. Highly unlikely, but you never know. If you told me years ago that Sonequa Martin-Green would return for Rick's last episode, I would've said there's no way.
These are simply my thoughts on how Michonne's exit will play out. But I would love to hear what you guys think. Do you guys agree with me? I'm simply saying how I think Michonne will leave and how they can set the stage for Danai Gurira to return in the movies. What are your thoughts? Feel free to post yours below!
