Am I the only one who can sympathize with Chuck?

Call me crazy but I don't think Chuck is an asshole for wanting to keep Jimmy away from the law. Let's look at the history between the two brothers.

Jimmy and chuck grew up in a family with very limited means. His father was a pushover and people took advantage of him. Jimmy himself among one of them people. He embezzled money from his father's business in dribs and drabs. Chuck knew about this.

Here we have to understand that the two brothers are as different from each other as it is possible to be. Chuck achieved success by working his ass off (as he says himself). He went to a very good college to study law. Played a pivotal role in building HHM into a multimillion-dollar law firm. All this time, what was Jimmy doing?

Jerking off in the town with his buddies (marco?). He literally defrauded people to earn his living. It's very possible that Chuck knew all about Jimmy's con jobs (the Rolex watch thing etc.).

Chuck grew up watching Jimmy become slippin Jimmy. Five years pass, the two brothers haven't spoken to each other but when jimmy is arrested and possibly going to jail for years, who gets him out? Chuck.

Who gave Jimmy another chance at life by letting him work in the mail room? Chuck. Had it not been for Chuck, Jimmy would definitely have landed back in jail some way or the other.

Throughout the 4 seasons, it's established clearly that Jimmy has a knack of hurting people, albeit inadvertently. His behavior at Davis and Main gets Kim sent to Doc review (unfairly) due to the TV ad thing. Even before that he gets reprimanded for his client outreach at HHM. Jimmy purposefully sabotages the Mesa Verde case to get revenge on chuck and Howard for treating kim unfairly.

Not to mention Jimmy's other dealings with criminally minded people like Nacho, Tuco, Gus (in the future), the vet, and god knows who else, about which Chuck doesn't even know about. By any assessment, Jimmy is not fit to work in a professional setting where playing straight and by the rules is of paramount importance.

As much as I love watching Jimmy's shenanigans, If I had a law firm, I wouldn't want a lawyer like him dealing with my important clients. Chuck knows Jimmy's dark side better than anyone else.

That's why I wholeheartedly sympathize with Chuck. Sure he did look down upon Jimmy and he made use of him in his illness without returning much of brotherly love, and it was unkind, but I can definitely understand Chuck's reasons, even though I don't agree with him everytime.

EDIT: Chuck clearly cared about his brother. Remember that scene in season 1, when Jimmy is sleeping on the floor and Chuck places a pillow under his head?
