[Spoiler]A theory on the symbol the Night King leaves behind.
I’m doing a rewatch of the show and I’m currently on the final season.
So earlier in the show when Jon and Mance make their way to the fist of the first men, the night king had left a bunch of horse parts which made up the symbol.
Later on when Bran is beneath the Great Weirwood tree, he is able to see how the Night King was created, if you pay attention to the rock formation where he was created, the rocks are scattered about and they make up that same symbol.
We then see the symbol again in season 8 when the Umber boy is impaled into the wall.
Well my theory on what this symbol is, is that since the Night King was once human, it’s safe to say he belonged to a house, or a family. Well what do houses and families use to display who they are and who they fight for? A house sigil.
What if once the Night King became the Night King, he decided to use that symbol from the stones where he was created as his house sigil. He created his own house and took this for his sigil and the dead are the family that this sigil represents.
I literally just had this thought while seeing the Umber boy impaled on the wall. I’m not sure if this idea had been floated on here before or not. I haven’t kept up with theories or anything in quite some time. I just figured I’d share this thought and see what you all think.
I put the spoiler tag just in case people haven’t seen the show or all of it. Jon being with Mance at the fist is kind of a spoiler, bran and seeing how the night king was created is kind of a spoiler as well as the Umber boy dying is kind of a minor spoiler too.
