I loved watching Malcolm in the Middle through high school in the 2000s, and always identified aspects of their rowdy chaotic family with my less-rowdy-but-imperfect family life. Now that I'm watching it in my late 20s, it's even better that I remember it.
Part of it is living on the other side of the world to my brothers and missing our teenage conflicts and brotherly solidarity, but now I have a whole lot more appreciation for Lois and Hal doing their best. They're flawed and loving and well-developed characters, and the script and editing are full of real laugh out loud jokes throughout all the episodes. Any of the main and recurring characters are valid favourite characters.
It's made it clear how for all of the things I enjoy in modern comedies, I first saw in this show.
10/10 check it out again
