Just randomly thought of this the other day:
SNL is known as the greatest & longest running sketch/variety show of all time. Conan was a writer back in the late 80s.
The Simpsons is the longest running sitcom of all time & is highly regarded as one of the greatest shows of all time. Conan wrote for it.
The Tonight Show is the longest running late night talk show franchise & has that weird Johnny Carson prestige still.
& "Late Night" was the first ever after midnight late night talk show, initially known to be the "anti-Tonight Show". A creative timeslot to try out anything. Plus David Letterman created the show.
In addition to writing, he was an extra in several SNL sketches & even hosted the show once. He also played himself in a Simpson's episode.
As far as TV comedy goes, to be a writer & a performer/host in all 4 of these legacy franchises is pretty rare. I don't think anyone else has done that?
