[no spoilers] Looking for smart people, regarding the ravens.

So, assuming the ravens aren't magic, how do they know where to go? We know The Measters train them and send them. It's totally believable that you could train birds to fly to different cities with different commands. But what would the commands be and how would the birds know? Left foot, King's Landing? Right foot, Winterfell? Not enough feet for Westeros. So, who who can reverse engineer how the Maesters train crows to fly to 5-10 different locations at the least, with little to no time to communicate the destination. Also, if you plan to defend the phenomenon by explaining that there are many specialized ravens and that each raven is trained to only go back and forth between 2 cities, please explain how they can be identified when they are all commingled and how the Maesters can so easily tell which crows are trained for which cities. I'm thinking the ravens are magic. Can anyone explain otherwise? I hate that explanation.
