[SPOILERS] - Common Misconceptions on the Sub

I am quite new to this sub and so far I have seen quite a staggering amount of misconceptions that seem to reappear almost daily. I wanted to try my hand at explaining them.

The Valonqar - I have been seeing things everywhere about "the valonqar will be brother will kill Cersei" or that Cersei's path will have to follow things in line with the Valonqar prophecy. The Valonqar Prophecy Does Not Exist on the TV Series.......yet. The Valonqar does not have to be the way Cersei dies as of what we know now. However she may well do, but there is almost an insistence on here that Cersei must die by a brother or some sort. Well before I go on, let's think about it logically, if Cersei is killed by some random unknown persons brother then it's all a bit silly, I think the brother thing will be literal to Jamie or Tyrion and at a stretch the NK, for me it ends there. However the show has either decided to omit the Valonqar for one of three reasons:

  • They aren't using the Valonqar - in the books Cersei may never even make it to the Iron Throne, but in the show she did, either this is consistent with GRRM or the show decided to keep on Lena Heady who is excellent as Cersei and they may have decided that her death will not be at the hands of her brother.

  • They were planning the second half of the Valonqar prophecy as a flashback so that there is still an element of mystery as to who could kill her and throw off book fans.

  • They will have her die by Jamie or Tyrion and they just want it as a total surprise.

So the Valonqar may happen but in our thinking around theories I think this sub should loosen up a little. Words are wind, prophecies are unreliable, it's a big part of the series.

Azor Ahai

AA will be reborn amidst salt and smoke and under a bleeding star. This is the only reference as to what AA will have to do to come back. There is no Nissa Nissa, there is no forging things in a lion and I think this is another thing people try so hard to fit on to theories like a sheet which is too small for a bed and there is no evidence that this will happen again. The death of Nissa Nissa only forms part of the myth of AA and it is the story of Lightbringer being forged, it had nothing to do with the man himself or any power he may have had. Lightbringer is forged already, it has to be found not reforged and that is only if the show want to include it in the final series. My 2 cents on it is that TPTWP, The Last Hero, AA are all the same person talked about in different cultures, like how the Messiah thing arises in real world religion.

Dany not burning - this is specific to Dany "The birth of Dany’s dragons was unique, magical, wonderous, a miracle. She is called The Unburnt because she walked into the flames and lived. But her brother sure as hell wasn’t immune to that molten gold.” - this is from GRRM. Jon can burn, Viserys can burn, Dany is not immune to fire she is shrouded in magic because of the birth of the dragons, hence "unburnt" being a title.

If anyone knows anymore then go for it, just from the view on my high horse the more time goes on the lazier theories have become. Game of Thrones theories are a great thing, in a few months there will be no more need for show based theories, so as we try to guess what will happen we may as well work of the right info.
