This show is now just a “What If” in the apocalypse

In the last 2 seasons, FTWD has basically just introduced new characters that are only defined by their profession. The showrunners wanted to see what a cowboy, news reporter, nurse, trucker, brewer, teacher, nuclear power plant worker, and now a rabbi would all do in a zombie show. None of these characters have any depth or layers to them, with all of them only wanting to help people. In fact, the entire show over season 5 has been a fantasy set in “The Walking Dead” universe. Gimple and the showrunners thought it would be cool if a nuclear plant was melting down, if our characters built and flew an airplane, if people traveled in a beer-shaped hot air ballon, if people went to a Western theme park, if our characters went to a mall and rode a carousel, if there was an Office themed recruitment video, if people tried to find the world’s supply to oil and gas, and finally if people met a rabbi that wanted to keep his temple going. All of these episodes have been useless and have had no plot at all. The show is only getting bigger, with them introducing and adding a character each episode without killing literally anyone off. Right now the cast is Morgan, Alicia, Strand, Al, John, Luciana, John, June, Charlie, Daniel, Dwight, Grace, Sarah, Wendell, Wes, Annie, Max, Dylan, Rabbi Jacob and Logan and the show wants the viewer to care about all of them. The show has tried to make all of these characters important by throwing these characters into the spotlight. Unfortunately, alot of people don’t care about any of these characters at all. The only semi-vital character to the show now is Morgan because his of goal of helping people. If any other character was absent for multiple episodes, no one would really notice because the show doesn’t change without them. Most of 5A was about trying to help the kids and trying to convince the kids join their group. Now that plot is pointless because they haven’t been in the show in 5B. Unlike this show, the Walking Dead knows how to make viewers care about characters and they know to juggle their main characters with background characters.
