I just watched episode 05x15 'Chanel 5' and I actually thought it was quite a good episode (in its second half)

I'm a bit late and I haven't watched the season finale just yet but I made a comment in the post episode discussion for 05x15 and I thought I'd share it here too.

So I know this show has its ups and downs and downs and downs and downs, but I really enjoyed the second half of this episode (I absolutely couldn't stand the damn talking to the camera stuff in the first half though).

  • The bridge horde scene was really well done, one of my favorite sequences throughout either of the two shows (Tom is an idiot though) and despite not liking the documentary stuff I think this scene was possibly more enjoyable through the character cams since you're right in the action.
  • The sequence of them walking through the fields I thought was quite lovely and tranquil and also had some good shots. I also enjoyed the interaction between John and Morgan about finding a best man, it got a smile out of me.
  • And maybe it's because this show and it's characters run off of sunshine and happiness, but the ending genuinely caught me off guard. While it sucked to see our heroes fail I also very much enjoyed it, because for just a few moments I was sucked back into the dreary, hopeless, and sometimes futile world of the Walking Dead's post apocalyptic world.

While this show has sadly been dragged six feet under by its management, and while it's much easier to point out the absolutely egregious amounts of poor decisions, I do, from time to time, find occasional enjoyment from this show's scenes, dialogue, and actions. And while it is quite hard for this show, I'm all for giving credit where its due.
