I have a few questions regarding Qhorin Halfhand's orders or intentions when ranging in the skirling pass with John Snow.
I was rewatching season 2 and I found it odd that the Halfhand asked Ygritte if she knew him, and what the freefolk would do if they captured him. He then touched her face almost tenderly, or as if he was examining her like a doctor would or something.
It was like he was seeing if she would work out as far his plan to join Mance. When she replied that they'd cut his head off, he acted as if he expected the answer but was hoping for something else.
Almost as if he wanted to go over WITH Jon (or instead of him).
This assumes that he was ordered to get 'someone' inside of Mance's camp.
Why do you think the Halfhand was like this? Checking over Ygritte like a horse, asking what would happen if he was captured? Was this the plan all along? Get Jon Snow to Mance?
