Throughout the show they went through a whole lot of trouble to steal methylamine(from that warehouse, then from the train) but when Jesse goes to Mexico the Cartel's chemist is surprised that a cook can't make it from scratch and even says that a first year university student could make it. So Walt could have easily made it, right?
What's the explanation for them not making it from scratch? Was it not actually possible, or did the writers just decide that's too boring for a crime drama?
