I don't think we've ever seen Gus not have the upper hand before

In the scene in Los Pollos Hermanos when Lalo has a chat with Gus in his office, it was the first time Gus looked to be uneasy. While he may know of Lalo, this was obviously the first time they met so Gus was probably trying to get a read on him. However, Lalo clearly had the upper hand during that whole convo. He steered the convo in the direction he wanted, he made sure Gus knew he was gonna be the man for a little while, and seemed to have the physical presence over Gus.

It was not the normal interaction Gus normally has with a Salamanca. It felt different. Gus didn't seem as sure of himself.

edit: another thought I had: in the earlier scene, when Lalo is talking to Hector about the hotel story, he laughs about somebody who was trying so hard to act tough. In a way, isn't this how the Salamancas act? They are always brutish and rough around the edges. They love to intimidate through their strength and threats. Lalo seems to mock that because he knows that's fake confidence- a man doesn't need to puff his chest out to prove he's tough. We see true confidence and toughness from Lalo when he meets Gus however, and without threatening or being a thug at all. Perhaps that is what concerns Gus? He knows how to deal with a rapid dog, but not someone like Lalo.

Thoughts?
