The Americans became my quarantine show after finishing Mr.Robot (elite tier series) and it's incredible (even though I am only just now starting s4e1). The slow burn, the patience, and the acting is impeccable. I know that critically this series remains on the top of serious lists, but I didn't expect it to be this dramatic//tense given the subject matter. I thought it would be relatively typical in regards to the concept of a spy series....but the layers and timing of things...wow. It's truly great and is really underappreciated by the number of people that know what it is or have watched it. However, the most impactful and astonishing aspect has got to be Matthew Rhys' performance....What he brings to the role of Phillip and other parts he plays in the series really shocked me. He is truly incredible and the reserved nature of his execution of the role should place him, to me, near the top of all time great television characters alongside with Walter White and Tony Soprano. The turmoil he holds in his scenes is both readily apparent and buried deep deep within is character. I'm really in awe. Glad that he received an award for season 6, but can't help but feel that he should have received more praise. Does anyone else agree/have thoughts on the work he accomplished with this series? also, if you have ever thought this was something to watch DO IT
