[SPOILERS] I have changed my mind about Daenerys (for now, at least).

A while ago, I made a post explaining that I had only three or four episodes of Season 2 left to go and I so far did not particularly enjoy the character of Daenerys. My reasons were she came across as entitled and spoiled, didn't really have much of a badass threat to her, and she threatened everyone who didn't help her but never really carried much power to her threats.

Well, I just finished Season 3 Episode 4 "And Now His Watch Has Ended" and I am pleased to report my opinion on her character has taken a complete U-turn. Obviously, I'll have to watch the rest of the season before I fully solidify my new opinion, but if this is the direction her character will be taken, I am 100% ready.

I already was pretty impressed with the way she was handled in the Season 2 finale, but this episode completely changed what I thought about Daenerys. She was cunning, she had a plan, she was intelligent and strategic about the way she went about things. Instead of threatening Kraznys like she would have before by saying her full title and expecting everything to land in her lap, she pretends not to understand his insults and cleverly outbids gold by offering one of her dragons, fully knowing it will only obey her. Once the Unsullied are under her command, she double-crosses him and has them kill every last slaver, aided by her dragons.

This is the badass Daenerys I'd heard of for so long but had never seen. When she announced her full title, "Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen" I finally felt she'd earned the right to say that name- instead of entitlement and expectation, she said that name with lethality and vengeance burning in her eyes. And she hasn't lost her compassion, either, since she frees the Unsullied to follow her as free men and commands they don't harm any children or civilians, and to free the slaves. She's now a much more interesting, morally grey character.

Again, I hope this is the direction they take with her for the rest of the season, if not the rest of the show, but we'll have to see. Still, I am much happier with this Daenerys than the one of the last two seasons- a Daenerys of intelligence, both of mercy and vengeance, who truly deserves to hold a claim to the Iron Throne.
