Anybody else think that the Daryl/Carol spinoff is a lie to protect spoilers?

Is this just me?

Norman Reedus is promoting himself for the Ghost Rider role while developing other projects, and Angela Kang is producing a whole other series for AMC.

Seems like a lot of stuff for important players in a series that will essentially act as the main continuation for TWD.
