(bit of a noob question) So, is it ever really explored/explained or are we supposed to just accept that Walter is naturally good with contingency plans? Do you think he learned to be that kind of thinker?

I know he's into physics (which I'm not familiar with enough to make a connection between it and contingency planning) But do you think he developed this type of genius over the years or it was naturally inherent in him?
