Ignacio "nacho" Varga is probably my favorite character and arc right now. He's calculating, pragmatic, highly intelligent, and though it may seem that he's emotionally shallow, he does harbor true empathy and sympathy towards others. Like someone else said in another post, since he does harbor humanity inside of him, I think his shallow affect is due to emotional detachment as a defense mechanism for all the shit he has to not only witness, but is expected to do working for Tuco and Hector.
Not to mention him going off on his own by trafficking pharmaceutical opioids (big money in that) seems to be evidence that Nacho isn't feeling the cartel that he's stuck with. If he could, he'd leave them in a second. He's a smooth, calm operator. He reminds me so much of Mike, and I believe that's why the two share a mutual respect. I think Mike has even grown fond of him because he sees so much of himself in Nacho.
His often blank expression and calm and collected demeanor allude to signs of something worse than just emotional detachment. He seems to be dissociating, in order to protect his conscience from what he has to witness and do under the Salamanca's.
I have no doubt that he will be the one to put Hector in a wheelchair. Apart from Gus, he has the second best claim to his life. This could happen a number of ways. Maybe Hector ends up killing Ignacio's dad, or at least threatens his fathers life with serious intentions. Maybe the duped Nitroglycerin pills result in Hector having a stroke.
I like to think Nacho survives this series, but I highly doubt it. If he dies, I'm sure his death will be epic. I'm about 80% sure he's going to die by the end. His death would definitely impact Mike. Mike obviously has some affection for the guy, since he seems to go out of his way to make sure Nacho knows what he's getting himself into. I think the two will probably even become friends.
